The “Shannaz read” is a term coined in the industry some time ago, and refers to a natural, casual delivery which has since been the cornerstone to a vast array of campaigns, from cars to telcos, banks to station-promos … just to name a few.

It’s why Shannaz has long been “the voiceover you book when you don’t want your script to sound like a voiceover”. It also explains his success in another area of VO’s … Voice Acting. if you’re looking for a sense of realism or a natural comic touch, his acclaimed acting skills will bring your scripts to life. That ability to make a script sound natural and relatable also lends itself to corporate, training and documentary narration.

Steve is one of the country’s most sought after animation voices, with credits including the Logie-Award winning “Tracey McBean”, the AFI-Award winning “Bottletop Bill”, the ABC hit “CJ The DJ”, and now the plum role of B1 in the recent ABC series of “Bananas In Pyjamas” (at last, his children are impressed).

Since graduating from WAAPA in 1992, Steve has worked extensively for camera and stage, taking out the award for Best Actor at the 2003 Festival of Perth for his role in David Mamet’s “The Duck Variations”.
